My Relationship with Media
My relationship with media has been for a very long time. I've watched TV and been introduced to news and ads since I was very young. I didn't think about it at the time, but I realize how a lot of media has influenced me. I didn't think that having all these influences from media could be bad, but I'm starting to have second thoughts on how I should tackle media. There are a lot of subliminal messages that are in ads that I had never seen. So in a way, the media has been able to push to do some things and not other things in life. Like certain brands to recognize or foods to want. All these types of ads I would usually find from TV. I like ads, but only when they are shown at good time intervals to me. When I see an ad over and over again, I begin to hate it. But I do remember the ad, so I wonder if thats somehow what the company intended or they just have their ad played over and over. Other forms of media I use are on my phone when I watch videos. I like to watch Youtube videos and there are plenty of ads that play before the video starts. I never really notice the ads because they are usually five to fifteen seconds long. The ads are much more attention grabbing on TV than on Youtube. I watch TV mostly on weekends, but use my phone almost everyday. So I see more media on my phone than TV. I like media, but only recently have I noticed how much media has influenced me in my life. Agreed! All too often, especially on youtube, ads get so repetitive to the point where I have to look away when I see them for the 50th time. It bugs me that they actually get what they want from their crappy piece of advertising that sticks for a ridiculous amount of time. The only time I'm cool with an ad sticking for a long period of time is when it's actually quality or really funny like the superbowl Doritos commercial of the dog breaking down a door to get a bag of Doritos.
